That Blue Square Thing - Geography Revision

GCSE Geography Revision

There are a whole pile of revision resources here - downloads, questions, tips and hints. Use them for Geography AQA C revision.

Please don't bother looking at SAM Learning for Geography. It's not very good and will only end up confusing you because there's so much more stuff on it than you need. Trust me on this.

The Exams

You'll have two geography exams:

Paper One - Monday June 14th 2010 (morning). This is the Decision Making Exercise, which will be about Resources and Development this year.

You'll want to look at the Paper 1 page to find out how to prepare for this exam. There are some very specific things you can do for this.

Paper Two - Thursday June 17th (afternoon). This is the case study paper. There will be three questions on the paper:

I'd expect that Question 3 will focus on Tourism and Environmental Issues because the Resources and, perhaps, Development elements will be dealt with on Paper 1.

Bitesize

At one point I used to link to BBC Bitesize pages for each module. Unfortunatly somone decided that it woul dbe a good diea to keep moving their pages and I can't be doing with keeping links whch change every six months up to date.

BBC Bitesize fish iconSo, here's the Geography Bitesize section of the BBC siteexternal link. You'll need to find the useful sections yourself I'm afraid.

The Syllabus

The Syllabus you are revising for is the AQA Geography Full Course Syllabus C. If you've brought a general revision book it might be important that you know this - don't revise stuff you don't need to know!

You can look at a copy of the syllabus itself at the AQA websiteexternal link (it's not all that interesting...).

Past Papers:

There are partial past papers on the AQA websiteexternal link. These may well be worth a look - although not all the resources are included in the files there.

You can also get short course partial past papers on the AQA websiteexternal link. These are the half course GCSE exam papers. Often many of the questions are similar, but they do sometimes put in some slightly different questions so they may be worth a look. Just remember that the structure of your exams is the same as the full course papers!

Resources

There are resources on a number of pages here which should, I hope, be useful when you're revising. You'll find questions, skills guides and advice on paper 1. There are a set of Google Earth Placemark files as well which should give you a slightly different way to revise.

A Revision Book?

If you'd like to buy a revision book for the AQA C syllabus I'd suggest "Revise for Geography GCSE: AQA Specification C" by David Payne. It's published by Heinemann. The ISBN is 978-0435099954. It's a good book, although not colourful or full of "fun" stuff. It's just, in my opinion, full of stuff you want to read, written by someone I trust. I don't do adverts, but this is good.
