Applied ICT A Level Unit 1 - ICT and Society
Unit 1 deals with:
- developments in technology and their impacts on society
- communicating information in ways which are fit for purpose and audience
It is assessed by a 15 hour exam (split into several sessions!) in January of Year 12. Pre-release material for the exam will be available from around November 1st. This will provide a context for the exam in terms of audience and purpose.

Unit Blocks:
The content for the unit is split into six blocks. Each block is designed to take about 2 hours to cover in class with a short follow up task to reinforce the content.
Because I don't always get two hours a week contact time, some of the content may need to be studied in free lessons I'm afraid.
- Block One - Where are we?
- Block Two - Communications revolution?
- Block Three - Society, Privacy and the Law
- Block Four - Audience Analysis and Needs
- Block Five - Designing Content
- Block Six - Writing Content
- Block Seven - Web Design workshop
- Exam Prep page
- Software guides page
That Blue Square Blog
usually has lots about interesting ICT developments on society, as well as plenty of stuff supporting some of the other Applied ICT modules. There will also be lots about content for the exam. Always worth a quick look.
It will also have information about assignments you need to complete and how you need to get them to me...
